Registration!

Registration Packets are going out tomorrow! I will either be dropping it by your house or putting it in the mail!
Once you receive it please sign and return the last page to me by August 1. The rest of the packet is due on the first day of school as well as the first payment. Also, please make a copy of the packet for your own records.

2011-2012 Preschool Classes!

Please note: I delivered most of my registration packets and the rest will go out tomorrow! :)

I have lots of parents showing interest in preschool for next year! I thought I'd better get a tentative list started to give parents a look at who wants to be in next year's classes!
It looks like all of my classes are full!!

Kindergarten Prep Preschool class
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
12-3pm(Wednesday is 10:30-1:30 due to early release schedule.)
Age 4-5(Kindergarten preparatory class.)
$175 per month

Little Artist's Class(follows a regular preschool day schedule with free choice, circle time, snack time, a short recess, stations, and music. I always highlight an artist or artistic style during circle time and we always do an art project or craft as one of our stations.)

I wish I could take more students!! My waiting list keeps growing! I still haven't heard the final word from a few parents. Registration packets just went out and I expect to here a final word by August 1. If I have any openings in any of my classes I will contact you August 1.

Catch-Up!

Fire Safety Week!

Have you ever wondered what you would do if there were a fire in your home? Here are some important prevention and safety tips we learned.

Don't touch matches. Stay away from lighters and candles, too.
Don't touch radiators or heaters. Ask a grown-up to turn a heater on or off for you. Don't stand too close to a fireplace or wood stove, either.
Don't play with electrical cords. And don't stick anything into an electrical socket.
Don't play around in the kitchen. If you want to cook something, be sure to check with a grown-up first.
Don't put anything over a lamp. Things thrown over a lamp (like blankets or clothing) could catch fire.

Make an escape plan. Work with your family to plan how to get out of your home if there is a fire.
Plan two ways out of every room. The first way out should be a door.
Choose a meeting place. Pick a safe and easy-to-remember spot outside your home where you will meet your family after you get out.
Practice! Every escape path needs to be planned and practiced with grown-ups.
Test smoke alarms. Help grown-ups remember to test smoke alarms monthly and to put in new batteries twice a year when the clocks change.

If there is a fire:

Get out fast! When you hear the loud beep of the smoke alarm, get out of the house. Never hide or take time to grab your belongings or pets.
Follow your escape plan. After all, you've been practicing!
Feel a door before you open it. If it is hot, there may be fire on the other side. Try to get out another way.
Stay low to the floor. Since smoke rises, the safest air for breathing is down low.
Call 9-1-1 or the fire department. Be sure to do this after you get out of the house. Remember: Only call 9-1-1 if there is a real emergency.
Stay out! Once you're out, stay out. Don't go back for anything!

3-D Play Dough and Modeling Clay Designs!

I LOVE this Crayola Dough! It's probably about 8+ years old and is still pliable and works great! I recommend it over and other brand of play dough!

We experimented with Crayola Dough, Play-Doh, and Modeling Clay! Our class never gets tired of rolling, molding, and cutting out shapes with it! So fun!

We L-O-V-E Art!

We made our own 2-D version of Robert Indiana's 'Love Sculpture' from Love Park, officially named JFK Plaza, in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The park is nicknamed Love Park for Robert Indiana's Love sculpture which overlooks the plaza.

Indiana's work often consists of bold, simple, iconic images, especially numbers and short words like EAT, HUG, and, his best known example, LOVE.

Indiana's iconic work LOVE was first created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964 and later was included on an eight-cent United States Postal Service postage stamp in 1973, the first of their regular series of "love stamps."

This original sculpture is made of COR-TEN steel. The LOVE design has been reproduced in a variety of formats. Likewise, the sculpture has been recreated in multiple versions and a variety of colors, and is now on display around the world.

The "Love" emblem has been adopted by skateboarders and frequently appears in skateboard magazines and videos.
