Fall 2010

Hello Parents!

Here is a brief post with some preschool information!

I will be teaching a 4 year old private Preschool class beginning this Fall.
I will cap the class at 8 students.
I'll be starting off the school year a bit late but I will follow the CUSD calendar for the remainder of the year.
Class begins on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
It's 3 days a week and 3 hours a day.
We will meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Tuesday and Thursday class will be from 12-3pm.
On Wednesday class will be from 10:30-1:30pm due to CUSD early release schedule.
We have snack time everyday and students are required to bring a backpack with a folder inside and their snack everyday (and a full lunch on Wednesdays due to the schedule).
Tuition is $175 per month. That includes all supply fees. That breaks down to approximately $14.50 per day and includes all prep work and supplies.(Total class days 2010-2011 is 108) There is No tuition due in June.
Tuition is due the first Tuesday of the month and I accept cash or check made out to Ashley DeWitt.
I am flexible with parents that are considering only 1 or 2 days per week instead of the full 3 days.
Class is held at the Bohn Residence across the street from Rail Road Park in Clovis, near Buchanan High School. I am happy to send a private email with the address to those that need it.
I am rarely absent but in the event that I will not be there to teach the class I will find a qualified substitute teacher.
I also plan to keep this preschool blog updated with photos and a monthly newsletter to parents.

Prerequisites:
Students must be Potty-Trained (we take frequent breaks and they will be reminded to use the potty often)
This class will be for students that will be attending Kindergarten in Fall of 2011.

A little about me:
This will be my 3rd year doing a private preschool. I absolutely love teaching! I teach Pre-K essentials and prepare students for Kindergarten. My mother, Shirley Hales, has been my mentor. She taught Kindergarten in Clovis Unified for over 10 years and now teaches 3rd Grade. She aided me in creating my own unique preschool curriculum. Students will learn colors, numbers, letters, sounds, shapes, writing and be encouraged through art, music, and positive reinforcement. As far as discipline goes, I use the "Super Nanny technique". Basically, time-outs when necessary and positive reinforcement.
I have been married for 3 years to my sweet husband, Tyson and I am currently working toward a Bachelors Degree in Art with a minor in Child Development.

  1. Ashley,
My name is Emily Freeman and I am a friend of Talli's (and most of the other moms of your students last year). My daughter Melissa is 4 1/2 and is currently enrolled in the Century CUSD preschool. I would love to have her in yours instead! Would you add me to the list and send me the information for me to get her enrolled? I'm so excited to hear that you're teaching!

(Oh, and I have another friend who would like to enroll her daughter, Gabby, too.)

  2. I reread your post and am thinking my daughter is too old. She will be going to kindergarten in the fall of 2011. Let me know!

  3. I've actually had more 4-year-old parents showing interest in the class! With this late notice it looks like I will be able to fill a class for students going to Kindergarten in 2011 faster than a younger class. I hope you're still interested! I will email you a contract ASAP.
