September!!

Dear Parents,

I'm so happy to be teaching our class! This year has gotten off to a great start! We've been having fun writing our names, and learning our colors, numbers, shapes, and sounds. We've been cutting, pasting, crafting, snacking, singing, playing, and making friends! In our Monday-Thursday preschool class we practice a lot of writing and reading skills. Then, for those that attend Little Artists on Fridays we switch gears and do a lot more hands-on creative projects, arts, and crafts. I always incorporate ABC Letters, Sounds, Numbers, Shapes, Colors, and Music into everything we do. Everyday we start-out by practicing our name writing skills. Afterward, we have "Circle Time" where we review the calendar, read books related to our monthly theme, and learn what stations we will participate in that day. Next, we enjoy snack time and a short outdoor recess. Afterward, we come inside for Stations. Stations can range anywhere from playing ABC B-I-N-G-O to Number flashcards, to Magnetic boards, to a writing station, maybe cutting and pasting practice, or a number of other things. After stations we usually have individual "reading time", another story, and then MUSIC!
This month, I've been focusing on each student's individual needs in preparation for Kindergarten and figuring out what level each student is at.
We've learned about Johnny Appleseed, Seeds and how they grow, the Shape Family, and we've practiced our letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and sounds!
